Social Media in La Quinta
If you are a golfer and you spend any time at all on social media, you already know that La Quinta, CA is the leading golf destination in the United States. Positioned just to the southeast of Palm Desert, La Quinta has a whopping 25 golf courses.
La Quinta Resort and Club
This golf club started it all in La Quinta back in 1926. An entrepreneur built a bunch of adobe bungalows to be a hideaway for the movie stars created when Hollywood started producing talking movies. Today’s tourists can enjoy nearly 800 places to stay, 41 swimming pools, a 23,000-square-foot spa, 90 holes of golf, and the list of amenities that goes on and on. There are also 3 restaurants on the property, so you never even have to leave during your whole vacation.
Santa Rosa and San Jacinto National Monument
Since La Quinta sits at the base of these mountain ranges, there is plenty of outdoor activities to explore in this area. Hikers of all skill levels can find a trail to suit them. It’s a great place to see cactus and other native flowers in bloom. Taking the Art Smith trail is a challenging course over 16 miles long, but you will be repaid with wonderous wildflowers. Or you can try the Bump and Grind Trail that is only 4 miles long and is good for mountain biking and seeing wildlife.
Santa Rosa Wilderness
If you love bird watching, you will be in heaven in the Santa Rosa Wilderness. There are reportedly over 250 species of birds in this wilderness. A visitor could spend their entire vacation looking for that many different species. If you take your eyes off the birds, you will also find uncommon plants here like Santa Rosa sage, and Nuttall’s scrub oak. Also in this wilderness, a local equestrian club maintains a dedicated horse trail.
Parks
Not only does La Quinta have 25 golf courses, but it also has 16 parks. There is a particularly beautiful desert overlook park that everyone should see. It's called the Coachella Valley Vista Point. Then there is Lake Cahuilla County Park which contains a gorgeous little lake set against a mountain backdrop. Fritz Burns Park has a pool and tennis courts and a nice shady spot with playground equipment for the kids. Lake Cahuilla Veterans Regional Park covers 710 acres and you can go fishing in the 135-acre lake or go horseback riding on the trails.
Casinos
And what would La Quinta be without a few casinos? Be sure to spend a little time at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, owned by the Cabazon Band of the Mission Indians. They have 2000 slot machines to drive you crazy and one hundred thousand square feet of special events space. Don’t forget about the Spotlight 29 Casino owned by the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of the Mission Indians. The architecture of the Spotlight 29 is also unusual and worth taking a look. And then there is a third casino, Augustine Casino with the usual array of card tables, slots, and restaurant buffets.
